I feel your frustration, lovely. You have an idea of what you want but can’t find anything like it anywhere. You’re confused about all the options you’ve seen and Google is not being your friend, delivering things to your screen that really don’t feel like you.

Maybe the thought’s gone through your head that what you’re looking for isn’t wedding-y enough and maybe you should settle for what’s being presented to you…

No. Stop right there. Do not doubt yourself. Ever!

You know you best, right? And if you know that the things you’re seeing aren’t for you, then please never settle.

I did, to some extent, and it wasn’t worth it.

So I’m going to share Laura’s story with you today as a bit of real bride inspiration. Laura and Dan were pretty awesome people. They breathe fire, for a start, and have since set up a business of their own performing at events. Couple that with a love of live action role play and you’ve got two people who know what they like and what they most definitely don’t want.

Laura’s email popped through via Bridebook saying this:

“I’m trying to find a hair piece that resembles leaves with possibly a rose or other flower in it to go with an outdoors theme. It’s a long shot but any ideas are welcome.”

Oh my goodness. Yes, Laura! Yes! I’m the person you need :)

(Not bragging there or being cocky! I knew instinctively that we were a match and it sounded like she’d been doing some searching, so I wanted to help her.)

It was the way Dan gazed at Laura, and the way she sparkled when she talked about their wedding venue.

Meeting Laura and Dan at their flat gave me the chance to learn more about them. I always say it’s the things you don’t say that I pick up on…in this case, it was the way Dan gazed at Laura and the way she sparkled when she talked about their wedding venue. They were on the same page and, when Dan asked if I could make him a hair vine to go in his long, red hair, I knew that I had to bring elements from Laura’s in to his.

So where did we go from there? I drew up some ideas for both of them and they loved them. Laura’s vine was going to have four tendrils coming off it that would weave through her hair, like roots from a tree. At the centre would be a leaf to tie in with their outdoors theme and flowers would be placed along each tendril. Dan’s would replicate the details but we kept it masculine by taking out the flowers and adding a Chinese dragon at the centre, as this was an important symbol to Dan.

Sometimes it takes a little leap of faith to get exactly what you’re looking for, and a little bit of trust in the right person to get the ideas out for you. Even if you feel you can’t put your idea in to words, finding a designer who creates things in a style you love will make life a whole lot easier. Make it someone you connect with as well and they will absolutely blow you away with what they create, I promise :)

If you’re starting to plan your accessories and have no idea what to do next, schedule a call with me and I’ll talk you through the next steps you need to take, helping you to focus your energy in the right places and save time searching.

And time is the one thing we never have enough of, right?
