Hair type: Short

Beautiful wedding hair isn’t limited to those with long locks! A beautiful short cut can still be styled and accessorised, and knowing which accessories will sit best in your short hair will help you narrow down your options.

Style it up

First things first: As we shorter-haired women know, a good cut is essential for keeping your style sharp. Check with your hairdresser when you should have your last trim before your wedding.

A few loose waves will add texture to your hair, and give your hair the wow factor for the big day. And yes, this is possible for shorter, pixie style hair cuts too with the right curling iron!

Your easy, no-fuss option - headbands

Headbands and tiaras are perfect for shorter hair as they don’t require extra pins to keep them in place, making them perfect for finer hair.

They can be simple, or detailed and even include a vintage brooch.

Top tip: Thinner bands will pinch less behind your ears!

The Good all-rounder: Hair vines

Yes! You can wear a hair vine, and style it however you like!

Hair vines are perfect for all hair lengths and, for your shorter hair, look beautiful styled to one side, across your head like a headband or across your forehead.

They are by far the most comfortable and versatile accessories around.

They simply pin in place with hair grips through the loops at either end or request ribbons to tie it at the nape of your neck.

Not impossible: Hair Combs

Speaking from personal experience, hair combs were never my first option for my shorter hair, but I once created a birdcage veil for a bride with cropped hair and we made a comb work, so you don’t need to rule them out completely.

Top tip: Choose a flat-toothed hair comb that you can slide hair grips over to give it more staying power in your hair.

Your Biggest Challenge: Hair Pins

Hair pins work best when, you’ve got it, they’re pinned in to something!

If you have enough hair to create a twist or plait in your hair, a pin will have more staying power, and you can also use hair grips to keep them in place.

My advice though is that a smaller vine may feel more comfortable and have more staying power in your hair,
